Doetker, 91, Beatrice, died Thursday morning, Aug. 19, 2004, at the Parkview Care Center in Beatrice. He was born May 18, 1913, at rural Cortland and grew up in the Pickrell area. He was drafted into the U. S. Army on May 5, 1942, and served three years and six months, almost two years overseas. He was married to Dorothea L. Spielman on Jan. 1, 1947, at St. John Lutheran Church, Beatrice. He drove the patrol for Holt Township for seven years and then farmed in the Pickrell and Cortland area until March 9, 1979, when he retired and moved to Beatrice. He was a member of American Legion Bitting-Norman Post 27, Veterans of Foreign Wars Geddes-Thober Post 1077, both of Beatrice, had served on the Pickrell School Board and had delivered Meals on Wheels for several years. He was a life-long member of Christ Lutheran Church, where he had been a member of the church council. He enjoyed mechanical things and raising cattle. Survivors; wife, Dorothea; sons, Robert Doetker of Lincoln and Richard Doetker of Roca; daughters-in-law, Mary and Brenda; grandchildren, Christie Doetker, Jody Doetker, Kerry Ropte, Jeffery Doetker and Jesseca Parker; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Marilda Schlake of Martel, Virginia Olson and husband Evert of Lincoln; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Emma (Hansel) Doetker. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, Christ Lutheran Church, rural Pickrell, Pastor Dave Larson officiating. Family prayer service: 9:45 a.m., basement of the church. Burial: Evergreen Home Cemetery, Beatrice. The body will lie in state at Fox Funeral Home, 19th and Garfield streets, Beatrice, from noon Friday until 9 p.m. Sunday evening, and then at the church one hour preceding services on Monday. Military graveside honors conducted by American Legion Bitting-Norman Post 27, Beatrice. A guest book for signatures and messages of condolence is also available online at www.foxfuneralhome.net. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Beatrice Community Hospital Hospice Program and Christ Lutheran Church with Raymond and Helen Hogelucht in charge.
