He was promoted to Sergeant, but letters home sometimes stated "note my new address" having been busted to Corporal on more than one occasion. There exists several pictures of he and his brother Martin in N. Africa. After the war he lived on the home farm with his mother. After she died he became somewhat of a loner. He moved to Tulare when the farmhouse became no longer liveable. He never married. Aberdeen Daily News, March 3, 1989 Clarence M. Hofemann--Tulare TULARE -- The funeral for Clarence M. Hofemann, 71, Tulare, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Tulare. The Rev. Raymond B. Torgerson will officiate. Burial will be in Tulare Cemetery under the direction of Colman-Thelen Funeral Chapel of Redfield. He died Wednesday, March 1, 1989, at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. Clarence M. Hofemann was born Jan. 10, 1918, at Tulare. He farmed in the Tulare area. In 1984 he moved into Tulare. He was a member of Salem United Church, American Legion of Tulare and Veterans of Foreign Wars of Redfield. Survivors include on brother, Carl Hofemann of Madison; and two sisters, Laura Schnittgrund of Millbrae, Calif., and Ella Adams of Bellflower, Calif.
