He died March 17, 2009 near his home at the age of 86 years. Clarence attended country school and graduated from Naper High School in 1939. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Naper. He served on the church board for several years and was a life member of the church. Clarence helped his dad with farm work and in his spare time he liked to play baseball, where he was known as an excellent shortstop. He was drafted to serve in World War II, but his only brother, Edwin, was killed in France before his basic training so he did not have to serve. Clarence married Sylvia Rueb on September 5, 1963 and to this union two sons, Tim and Keith, were born. He served on the ASCS committee and was also the Basin Township treasurer for 15 years. He enjoyed working with his sons on the family farm. Later in life he enjoyed taking care of his pets and driving around on his four-wheeler to check on things around the farm. He liked to read, watch the news, watch football and car racing. He was a loving caring and sociable man and a great friend to many. He will be dearly missed. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Edwin; his sister, Edna Broekemeier; brothers-in-law, Bill Broekemeier, Marlin Carstens, Earl Sieh, Clarence W. Mayer, Harven Rueb, Irven Rueb and his sisters-in-law: Florence Rueb and Pinalope Rueb. Clarence is survived by his wife. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Naper, NE. Burial will be in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Naper. There will be a prayer service on Friday at 7:00 PM at the Church. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to both services at the church.
