Read More	St. Edward Advance: June 14, 1973 Services for Claud Meridith Claud Crockett Meridith was born June 1, 1885, in Groseclose, Virginia to Darius and Mary Ann Wynn Meridith, and passed away June 6, 1973, at the Continental Care Center in Fullerton, Nebraska at the age of 83 years 5 days. He came to Boone County at the age of 14 and worked for area farmers. He returned to Rural Retreat, Virginia and married Ada Cormany, November 2, 1908, at Wytheville, Virginia. Most of his life was spent in Boone County with the exception of four years in Montana. He owned Meridith's Store in Boone from 1921 until his retirement in 1945. He was a member of the Methodist church at Raynesford, Montana until 1923 when he transferred his membership to the St. Edward Methodist Church. He was an active and loyal member of his church. Mr. and Mrs. Meridith celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 28, 1958, and their 60th anniversary on November 28, 1968. Mr. Meridith was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His life was filled with many deeds to his family and friends. He is survived by his son, Earl; daughter-in-law, Louise; four grandchildren, Sidney Meridith, Omaha, Mrs. Donna Florence, Houston, Texas, James Meridith, St. Edward, and Mrs. Ella Milburn, of Columbus; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. R.G. Hurt, of Rural Retreat, Virginia; two brothers, Bill Meridith, of Rural Retreat, and Rhudy Meridith of Powell, Wyoming; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ada; an infant daughter; a son, Forest; and a daughter, Thelma. Funeral services were held Saturday July 9, 1973, from the United Methodist Church, St. Edward, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Delwyn Milander in charge. Mrs. Ivan Maricle and Mrs. Leonard Cumming, accompanied by Mrs. Fay Smith at the organ, sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers were Clarence Grape, Russell Leggat, Clarence Briese, Charles Schafer, Gerald Staack, and Elmer Choat. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
