Description	:	Clement Eugene Parker was born south of Winner, SD on December 18, 1921 to Arthur and Martha (Sommerfeld) Parker. He passed away December 14, 2010 at his winter home in Mesa, AZ; surrounded by his family. He passed away December 14, 2010 at his winter home in Mesa, AZ; surrounded by his family. At an early age he moved with his family to the Littleburg area where he attended school through the 8th grade. He started the 9th grade but had to quit and go to work to help the family with expenses, doing farm and ranch work for the neighbors. In 1938 Clem met Margie Pemberton at Krafka's barn dance. On February 12, 1942, they were married at Sidney, NE. To this union five children were born: Larry, Connie, Duane, Cheryl and Karen. He entered the Army on July 24, 1942, proudly serving his country for 3 ½ years in the south Pacific as a Technical Sergeant. For several years they ranched, leasing properties in the Johnstown and Valentine area. Later they purchased the home place (north of Littleburg School in SD) in 1952. In 1957, Clem moved his family to Lead, SD where he worked at the Homestake Gold Mine. After one year, the family returned and worked the ranch until retiring to Valentine in 1977. At his winter home in AZ of 35 years, Clem was instrumental in starting and teaching many recreational activities in the senior RV parks such as horseshoe, shuffleboard, softball and pool. He was inducted into the National Shuffleboard Hall of Fame in 1998. He was very supportive of his family and loved to fish, golf, bowl, motorcycle and travel. Clem was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbor. He took pride in his garden, sharing with everyone. Always willing to help and never afraid to work as he taught his children the same. Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Margie, daughter Connie Borszich & husband Tom, son Duane & wife Sandy, all of Valentine, daughter Cheryl McNeely & husband Mick of Fort Worth, TX; 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one sister, Mary Shipley of Valentine; 3 sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Clem was preceded in death by his daughter Karen, son Larry, granddaughter Nikki Rae, his parents, brothers Sanford (Toots), Bill, Eddie, and Johnny and sisters Helen Morgan, Ida Schulz and Martha Chamberlain. Funeral services will be held December 21st at the United Methodist Church in Valentine. Pastor Tom Lucas will officiate the 11:00 a.m. service. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Valentine. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the donor's choice.
