Description	:	Cleo Lee Boswell was born on Dec. 18, 1924 to Vera (Jones) and Norm Boswell, south of Davis City, Iowa, the eldest of four children, and died at home on Apr. 27, 1997, at the age of 72. A headstone has been erected in Rose Hill Cemetery in Lamoni, IA. Cleo attended Stringtown School, Davis City High School and graduated from Lamoni High School in 1943. Read More	Cleo Lee Boswell was born on Dec. 18, 1924 to Vera (Jones) and Norm Boswell, south of Davis City, Iowa, the eldest of four children, and died at home on Apr. 27, 1997, at the age of 72. A headstone has been erected in Rose Hill Cemetery in Lamoni, IA. Cleo attended Stringtown School, Davis City High School and graduated from Lamoni High School in 1943. He married Dorothy McLain on July 21, 1946 at his parents home near Davis City with Elder Jay Barr officiating. Three children were born to this union: Karen Mertz, Onalaska, WI, Keith Boswell, Mesa, AZ, and Norma Doss, Miami, AZ. Cleo, age 10, was baptized a member of The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served as pastor or counselor in several places, Bishop's Agent for the Arizona District and District President for Arizona. While living in Albany, OR, he was ordained a Priest in 1956 and an Elder in 1957. In November 1974, he was ordained a High Priest and became a member of Evangelists in February 1987. His superannuation service was held at Phoenix Central in February 1995. Cleo farmed until he was 40 years old, at which time he entered Graceland College in Lamoni, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Business Education and began teaching high school in Cedar Falls, Iowa, two years, as well as part time at Hawkeye Technical Institute and attended the University of Northern Iowa where he received his Master's degree in Business Administration. He served as pastor of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Branch for one year. Because of Dorothy's health, they moved to Winslow, AZ, where he taught high school for one year. In 1971, he taught business courses at Central Arizona College and received the President's Citation for Teaching Excellence. In 1981, he was asked to move to Apache Junction and head the Business Department at the beginning of a new satellite campus until retirement in 1989. The Boswell's made many career moves during their marriage and lived in so many houses that they had to assemble pictures in a scrapbook to remember them all. They attended RLDS congregations in Davis City, Osceola, Cedar Falls, IA; Corvallis, OR; Flagstaff, Tucson, Casa Grande and Mesa, AZ. The church and its teaching of honesty, integrity, discipline, love and forgiveness have meant everything to them. On the weekend that Cleo graduated from Graceland College, Karen received her Associate degree, Keith his high school diploma and Norma her eighth grade certificate. Preceding Cleo in death were his parents, Norm and Vera Boswell and his infant sister Mildred. Survivors include his widow Dorothy; children and spouses; Karen and Maury Mertz, Keith and Karen Boswell, Norma and Riley Doss; grandchildren: Lisa Mertz-Cuni and Husband Joaquin, Chad Morgan and wife Ashley, Stacy Morgan Rictor and Husband David, Jared Doss, Sariah Doss and Erin Stroup-Boswell; great grandchildren: Lawrence David Rictor, Jr., and Allen Rictor; sister Elaine Hill and husband Dean; brother Rex Boswell and wife Judy; nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service was held at the Mesa Branch, Mesa, AZ, on May 10, 1997. Memorial funds have been established with: Outreach International and Central Arizona College (CAC) Foundation.
