He was born January 11, 1930 in rural Elk Point on the family farm, the second son of Leo & Maryanne (Chicoine) Laferriere. He married Lois Budde on August 20, 1951. Cletus was stationed in Germany as a member of the U.S. Army Company #501, 1st Chemical Depot Company "Comz" during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elk Point. Cletus worked at Nixon Feed Company, Sodrac Park, IBP, Morgan Driveway, Orkin Exterminating, Park Jefferson, Elk Point Public Schools, and DeHaan Mink. The couple farmed north of Elk Point until their retirement in 1990. Survivors include his wife, Lois, his seven children and their spouses, Kirk (Carol) Laferriere of Sioux City, IA, Jane (Nolan) Harris of Holstein, IA, Mary (Tim) Tow of Elk Point, Bruce Laferriere of Elk Point, Daryl (Becky) Laferriere of Norfolk, NE, Susan (Joseph) Kjose, and Ellen (Dave) Otto both of Elk Point; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo & Maryanne Laferriere, his brother, Norbert Laferriere, and his grandson, Samuel Leo Tow. Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elk Point with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and a wake service at 7 p.m. Service: Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Revs. David Roehrich and Tony Opem officiating. Cemetery: Burial will be in Elk Point Catholic Cemetery, Elk Point with military honors.
