Description	:	Clifford Elwood Snavely, the son of Jessie and Francis (Baumbach) Snavely, was born on August 31, 1931 on a farm 11 miles northwest of Superior, Nebraska. He passed away on April 24, 2008 at his home in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 24 days. Clifford started school in a little country school. Read More	Clifford Elwood Snavely, the son of Jessie and Francis (Baumbach) Snavely, was born on August 31, 1931 on a farm 11 miles northwest of Superior, Nebraska. He passed away on April 24, 2008 at his home in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 24 days. Clifford started school in a little country school. When Clifford was 6 years old his family moved to Superior where he spent the rest of his childhood. Clifford worked at the Lyric Theater for 2 years, and also the Serum Plant in Superior. In November of 1950, Clifford went to Los Angles, California where he worked for a Cadillac and Pontiac dealer. He returned home in June of 1952 to go the Army with some friends. He took basic training at Camp Roberts, California and finished cook school. He was awarded 2 bronze service stars, good conduct medal, United Nations service medal, National Defense service medal, and the Korean service medal. After spending 18 months in Korea he was honorably discharged on May 7, 1954. He was united in marriage to Madonna Gaddis on August 1, 1954 at the First Baptist Church in Superior, Nebraska. To this union three children were born. On December 12, 1954 Clifford was baptized in the First Baptist Church in Superior. Clifford was employed in the lab department for Ideal Cement Company for over 18 years. He was also self-employed as a house painter. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the VFW post 3355 and the American Legion Post 103 both in Superior. Clifford was a proud grandfather of 6 grandchildren. He had nick names for each one. He loved taking them places and going to all there sporting activities and buying groceries and taking them to breakfast on Saturday mornings. On July 2, 1987 at 2:00 AM Clifford had a heart attack and was a grandfather of a girl, Stephanie the same day at 8:30 AM. He had a second heart attack a week later. On September of 1989 he had a light stroke and had surgery on his right artery in his neck. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Madonna on April 19, 1993; son, Curtis on October 2, 1975; five brothers, Oliver, Wendell, Raymond, Willis and Leo, and one sister, Arcele Reiman. Survivors include his daughter, Diana Lynn Freitag and husband Barney of Superior,Nebraska and son, Clinton Eugene and wife Beverly of Hays, Kansas; six grandchildren, Justin and Stephanie Freitag both of Lincoln, Nebraska, Levi Walz of Abilene, Kansas currently stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas, Beau and Michael Jordan of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Autumn Snavely of Hays, Kansas; two great grandchildren, Jasmine and Kaitlyn Walz of Abilene, Kansas; three sisters, Donna June Shellhase and husband Delphos of Superior, Nebraska, Beverly Hart and Patty Winfree both of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico; brother-in-law David Gaddis and wife Sondra of Gaylord, Kansas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 28, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska with Rev.'s Art Taylor and Barbara Bauer officiating. Music was "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "Have Thine Own Way Lord", with Stephanie Thayer as soloist and Carlita Erickson as organist. Pallbearers were Justin Freitag, Levi Walz, Donnie Shellhase, Ted Gaddis, Jerry Snavely, Scot Gaddis, Keith Shellhase and Larry Snavely. Honorary Pallbearers were Jim Rust, David Gaddis, Clyde Waddle, Howard Warneking, Ron Frasier, Jim Loop and Bill Wager. Interment with Full Military Rites was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior, Nebraska was in charge of the arrangements.
