He passed away Sunday, September 10, 2000, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska, at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 15 days. Read More	Clifford Eugene Holsteen, son of Dio Mark and Mable Niece (Campbell) Holsteen, was born December 26, 1923, on a farm north of Nelson, Nebraska. He passed away Sunday, September 10, 2000, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska, at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 15 days. Gene Holsteen attended Bethel Rural School and graduated from Nelson High School in 1941. After graduating he remained on the farm. December 10, 1944, in Belleville, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Donna Lee Michaud. That union was blessed with four children, Ronald, Michael, Marcia and Dennis. Gene was an active member of the Nelson Community United Church of Christ. He served as trustee and on many committees. He was a past board member of Nebraska Rural Electric Association, Nelson Co-op, South Central Public Power District and Nebraska Electric G. & T. He was a member of the Republican Valley Sod Busters Camping Club. He enjoyed traveling. Gene and Donna went south for the winters. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He took pride in his yard work and loved to play cards. Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant brother, George; and two sisters, an infant, Dorothy, and Ruth Scholls (sic). Survivors include his wife, Donna, of Nelson, Nebraska; three sons, Ronald D. and his wife Connie of Pierre, South Dakota, Michael Lee and his wife Lea Ann of Florence, South Carolina, and Dennis Keith and his wife Susan of Lincoln, Nebraska; one daughter, Marcia Kay Renier of Green Bay, Wisconsin; four sisters, Lois Mumford and her husband Chris of Hebron, Nebraska, Charleen Adcock and her husband Dale of Superior, Nebraska, Shirley Janssen and her husband Richard of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Vonna Firestone and her husband James of Casper, Wyoming; and ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 12, 2000, at 2 p.m., at the Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, Nebraska, with Rev. Royce Buchtel officiating. Music was "Amazing Grace" with Debi Garrison as soloist and a congregrational hymn, "How Great Thou Art", with Carlita Price as organist and accompanist. Interment was in Nelson Cemetery. Pallbearers were Allen Ferebee, Jim Harris, Darwin Sterkel, Bill McCutchan, Bud Ferebee and Dick Wroughton. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson was in charge of the arrangements.
