Read More	Clifton Merl McKinley was born August 10, 1923 in New Market, Iowa, the son of James Henry and Eva Amanda (Lawson) McKinley. He passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 93 years and 29 days. Merl grew up and attended school in the Villisca area. He later served his country in the Army Air Corps during WW II. Following his service, he worked as a coal miner for a short time before starting a 29 ½ year career with Lisle Corporation in Clarinda. Merl enjoyed working on old cars and vans. He also loved the outdoors whether it was camping, fishing, hunting coons or pheasants, or visiting the Black Hills. He was also an avid stock car racing fan. His true love was spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Floris; brothers, Melvin Clark, George Wayne, Dale Franklin and Forrest Bernell; a half-sister, Minnie Briggs; a half-brother, Ivan Briggs and a niece, Eva Ellis. Survivors include his step-son, Glen Bales and his wife Gloria of Altoona, Iowa; grandchildren, Chris, Kathy, Lori, Kim and Robin; nieces and nephews, Greta, Theresa, Joyce, Lou, Frances, Bernell, Wayne, Carolyn, Coral and Merl; along with many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca with Pastor Gordon Scott officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Villisca Cemetery. There will be open visitation held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 11 at Wolfe Funeral Home. Visitation with the family present will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 12 at Wolfe Funeral Home. A memorial fund is being established. Online remembrances or condolences can be shared at www.swimemorial.com. The Wolfe Funeral Home of Villisca is in charge of arrangements.
