Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Ebenezer Southern Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Old Ebenezer Cemetery directed by Richardson Funeral Home of Marion. Mr. Allen was born in Latta, a son of the late Romie and Ruth Tyndal Allen. He is also preceded in death by a son, Robert Donald Allen (Vickie Gillie) of Huntersville, NC. He was a veteran of The U.S. Navy, serving from 1945-46. Mr. Allen graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from Clemson University in 1949. He would become a farmer and served as Marion County Soil Conservation Commissioner from 1976-1990. Mr. Allen was a member of Ebenezer Southern Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Stewards and as Sunday School Teacher. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Jean Lane Allen of the home; a son, Mark Clyde Allen of Sellers, SC; daughters, Joann Allen (Mitchell Beckwith) of Warsaw, NC, Phyllis Allen (Nick Couch) of Summerville, SC and Judy Allen Herb of Marion, SC; a sister, Jenny Kate (Mrs. Olin Lane) of Latta, SC; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. - Richardson Funeral Home
