Born in Gray Court, he was a son of the late Calvin E. and Omega Riddle McCauley. Born in Gray Court, he was a son of the late Calvin E. and Omega Riddle McCauley. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, was involved in the D-Day Invasion in the European Theatre, was a heavy machine gunner and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Mr. McCauley was a Shoe Cobbler, a member of Disabled American Veterans, a member of the Hall of Heroes of Laurens County, and a member of Lucas Ave. Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Kim M. Fridy and husband, Fred H. III of Laurens and Kay M. Lumpkin and husband, Alan L. of Greenville; one brother, Cecil McCauley and wife, Sharon of Enoree; one sister, Doris Ramage of Clinton; five grandchildren, Stewart Robertson and Holly, Philip Robertson and Holly, Mariel Fridy, Aaron Lumpkin and Sara, and Ben Lumpkin; four great-grandchildren, Bennett Robertson, Ella Robertson, Micah Robertson and Samuel Robertson; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, James McCauley and Horace McCauley and two sisters, Cornelia Nelson and Edna Harrison.
