She is survived by: sons, John Mears and wife, Brenda, Emporia, and Thomas Mears, Fergus Falls, Minnesota; brothers, Jim Walls of Kanub, Utah, Robert Walls of Richardson, Texas, John Walls of El Dorado, Kansas, Dan Walls of Hesston, Kansas, Kevin Walls of Oregon, and Mark Walls of Leon, Kansas; sisters, Janice Nielsen of Council Grove, Kansas, Joann Hackler of Rosalia, Kansas, and Judy Walls of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Melissa Mears, Amanda and husband Michael McMurphy, Heather Mears, and Samantha Mears, all of Emporia, Molly and husband Chris Gronniger of Maize, Kansas, Zoey Mears, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Heidi Mears and Galen Mears of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; and eight great-grandchildren. Those preceding her in death are: her parents; brother, Richard Walls; sister, Phyllis Ratzlaff; and son, Faron Mitchell. Connie was a home health provider until her retirement in 2009. Cremation is planned, with a private memorial service to be held at a later date.
