Description	:	Rex Dean Gingles, son of Ralph W. and Blanche Cook Gingles, was born February 20, 1932, at Hanover, Kan., and departed this life May 16, 1951, in Korea, death coming in the field of battle at the age of 18 years, 4 months and 26 days. At the age of three he came to Clay Center with his mother and lived there until he left for the service, May 30, 1948. Read More	Rex Dean Gingles, son of Ralph W. and Blanche Cook Gingles, was born February 20, 1932, at Hanover, Kan., and departed this life May 16, 1951, in Korea, death coming in the field of battle at the age of 18 years, 4 months and 26 days. At the age of three he came to Clay Center with his mother and lived there until he left for the service, May 30, 1948. At that time he enlisted in the regular army and after one year of service in the states he was sent to Japan. Shortly after the Korean conflict began, he was sent there, and he received corporal rating. A letter from the lieutenant of his division told of how Rex saved the life of a comrade from drowning, which is an indication of the kind of service he gave. His body was returned to the United States in October and he now rests in the family plot. Corporal Gingles leaves to cherish his memory his father, Ralph W. Gingles of Haddam; his mother, Mrs. Blanche Cook Gingles of Clay Center; five brothers,Carl of Ks., Lloyd of Texas, Merle of KS.,LeRoy of KS., Lawrence in the service at Fort Knox, Ky.; two sisters, Wilma, now Mrs. Marvin Peterson of KS.,and Ruth, now Mrs. Kenneth Erich; eight nieces and nephews; two grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Gingles of Clay Center, other relatives and a host of friends. Memorial services were held Sunday afternoon October 14. Burial was in Sherman cemetery.
