Read More	Obituary of Curran Rogers: On July 13, 1878, twins, Curran and Cora, were born to James and Elizabeth Rogers in Wayne County,Iowa. These were the sixth and seventh of twelve children. The little girl, Cora, lived only one and one-half years. Curran passed away on December 29,1958, at the Webster County Hospital in Red Cloud, Nebraska at the age of eighty years. When Curran was two years old, the Rogers family homesteaded in Jewell County, Kansas, where he lived the remainder of his life. He lived with his parents. After the death of his father in 1907, he continued to live with his mother and farm the home place. In 1920 Curran suffered a serious illness. After a major operation and many months of tender care by his mother, he regained his health. He devotedly cared for his mother during her last illness in 1924. In 1925 he moved to Esbon, where he operated a grain elevator for twenty-three years until he retired in 1948. On October 18,1927, he married Mabel Jackson. After twenty years of devoted companionship this union was broken by her death on January 3, 1948. After the death of his wife he made his home with his sister and her husband, the Winnie Thompsons. Upon the death of his brother-in-law, Dana Schuck, Curran moved to a home in Esbon with his sister, Mae Schuck. Curran Roger's host of friends and relatives will ever remember his sense of humor, his interest in people and community activities. Much of his generosity is known only to the recipients of it. Although he had much sickness during his life and was not in good health, his death came as a shock to the community. Besides his companion and his twin sister, he was preceded in death by four brother and two sisters. He leaves three sisters, Mae Schuck and Martha Thompson of Esbon and Ethel(Maude)Riemenschneider of Boise, Idaho, one brother, Jeff Rogers of Lebanon, and countless nieces and nephews to cherish the memory of "Uncle Curny." Funeral services were held, Wednesday, December 31,1958, at the E.U.B. Church in Esbon. Rev. Loren Silsby officiated, assisted by Rev. DeWitt Miller. Pallbearers were Bob Johnson, Claude Thompson, Harvey Rogers, Harold Thompson, Arden Rogers and Frank Thompson. Singers were Earl Silsby and Carol Kindler, accompanied by Sharel Dutton.
