Description	:	Curtis P. Mineart, 75, of Washington died Wednesday April 9, 2008, at Pleasantview Home in Kalona following an extended illness. Born Dec. 18, 1932, in Washington County, he was the son of Henry W. and Carrie Grace Lamansky Mineart. On Jan. 9, 1954, he married Melva Schnicker in Washington. Mr. Mineart was the Washington County auditor for 27 years and served on numerous state-related boards. He spent 20 years in the Marine Corps serving in both Korea and Vietnam. Mineart, 75, of Washington died Wednesday April 9, 2008, at Pleasantview Home in Kalona following an extended illness. Born Dec. 18, 1932, in Washington County, he was the son of Henry W. and Carrie Grace Lamansky Mineart. On Jan. 9, 1954, he married Melva Schnicker in Washington. Mr. Mineart was the Washington County auditor for 27 years and served on numerous state-related boards. He spent 20 years in the Marine Corps serving in both Korea and Vietnam. In 1962 he was named "serviceman of the year" by San Diego Chamber of Commerce. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1971. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1951. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Optimists Club and Habitat for Humanity and was also a 4-H leader. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Steve Mineart of Oskaloosa, Gary Mineart of Decorah, Kevin Mineart of West Burlington and Doug Mineart of Springdale, Ark.; one daughter, Carrie Daggett of Fort Collins, Colo.; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Dave Mineart of Norwalk, Harold Mineart of Washington and Leroy Mineart of Brighton; one sister, Margaret Anderson of Fairfield; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers. The Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Mineart will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Ed O'Melia officiating. Burial with military honors by Washington American Legion Post 29 will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.
