Curtis passed away Friday morning, April 14, 2017, at Goldfinch Estates in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements. Curtis Theodore Anderson was born on November 9, 1923, on a farm in Lake Belt Township near Dunnell, MN, the son of Albert and Clara (Carlson) Anderson. He received his education attending country school District #17 in Tenhassen Township and was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Palestine Lutheran Church in Dolliver, IA. On June 13, 1959, Curt was united in marriage to Wilma Anna Matilda Graplar at the St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop, MN. Together the couple would make their home on a farm in Lake Belt Township where they farmed until their retirement in 1982. To this union, one daughter, Nancy was born. Following their retirement, Curt and Wilma moved to Ceylon where Curt's love of the land and growing things helped him in keeping up his garden. In his spare time, Curt enjoyed cheering on the MN Twins and Timberwolves and enjoyed making homemade ice cream and lefsa at Christmas time. When not busy tending to his garden, Curt looked forward to warm days spent out on the lake fishing and also playing dart ball. He treasured spending time with his family and friends and especially enjoyed visits from his grandson and great-grandchildren. Following his move to assisted living, Curt loved playing cards and 500 with his assisted living friends. Curt was a member of the Lake Belt Township Board and the Lake Belt Township Cemetery. He was an active member at St. Peter Lutheran Church where he taught and also served as Sunday school superintendent as well as various church boards. Curt was also a member of the National Farmers' Association, Martin County Conservation Club, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, as well as serving as past president of the Senior Citizen's Group in Ceylon. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Nancy Gellert and her husband, Greg of Fairmont, MN; grandson, Ryan Gellert and his wife, Krista of Sioux Falls, SD; great grandson's, Lincoln and Asher Gellert; sister, Luella Fischer and her husband, Ted of Fairmont, MN; brother, Lyle Anderson and his wife, Marion of Ceylon, MN; brother-in-law, Harold Qually of Jackson, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Curt was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Clara Anderson; wife, Wilma Anderson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Ida Graplar; sister, Myrtle Qually; brother, Leonard Anderson; sisters-in-law, Darlene Anderson and Zelda Detert; and brothers-in-law, Dick Detert, Harold Graplar, LeRoy Soucek and Jack Johanson. The family requests memorials be given in Curt's name to Goldfinch Estates, St. Peter Lutheran Church of Ceylon and St. Paul Lutheran Church Endowment Fund of Fairmont. www.lakeviewfuneralhome.net
