Daniel Lee Shane was born on July 17, 1967, son of Robert and Mary Ann (Mayer) Shane, in Osage, Iowa. Dan was the youngest of 5 children. As the baby of the family it automatically made him Mary Ann's favorite. He grew up and graduated from Riceville High School. On December 12, 1987, Dan married Patti Eastman at Sacred Heart Church in Meyer, IA. For 25 years, Dan worked as a welder. Being a perfectionist, he liked to teach others how to weld the "right way." Dan was a jack of all trades and could build and fix anything. Classic country music was Dan's favorite to listen to. He never left home without his Bose speaker. He had the gift of making everyone feel like his best friend and making up new words. In 2019, Dan and Patti opened up Goosey's Bar and Grill in McIntire. He loved to give ice cream to kids at the bar. Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing, searching for mushrooms, bartering and finding a bargain. When it comes down to it, Dan's faith and family were the most important to him. The addition of his 2 grandchildren was a highlight in his life. He never missed an opportunity to spoil them. Daniel is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mary Ann; brothers James and Alan; and nephew James.
