Daniel married Ingnora Bertine Ovesdatter Lie on 8 Oct 1880 in Baldwin, St. Croix Co., WI. Daniel married Ingnora Bertine Ovesdatter Lie on 8 Oct 1880 in Baldwin, St. Croix Co., WI. She was the daughter of Ove Benjamin Olsen and Jonetta Christine Ingebrigtsdatter Kolstadsve and was born 30 Jan 1851 in Beitstad, Norway. Daniel and Ingnora had 2 baby sons who died in their youth and were both buried on the family homestead in Laketown Twp, Barnes Co. ND. Daniel filed the claim for his homestead in Laketown Twp., Barnes Co., ND on 22 Apr 1889. The land was split amongst his three children, Emil, Lula, and Ida, on 10 Nov 1909. The nearby town of Dazey was surveyed in 1872 and 1883, and was incorporated in 1899. Daniel was a farmer, a carpenter, and a painter. He died in 1903 and Ingnora had died in 1902, just a year apart. The two are buried in the Dazey Cemetery. They left behind 3 young children, Emil Denver Tharaldson, age 17, Lula Tharaldson, 16, and Ida Tharaldson, age 11. Emil became the man of the house and finished rearing his sisters before he settled down and married. Emil also served in WW I and was in France. Daniels mother Johanna had also immigrated to the USA in 1872 and had homestead rights to a section of land next to Daniels. She filed her declaration of intent to become a citizen on 26 May 1884. Daniel farmed both sections after his mother died on 31 Jan 1892. A 16 x 16 foot frame house was built for the family on the homestead and 5 acres of land was broken the first summer. The early years were hard ones, but the family continued to improve the claim. Daniel had filed his first claim in 1883, and was given title to the land in 1889. The Tharaldson farm became a sort of way station for travelers and homesteaders going west. They were members of the Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church at Dazey. Their children attending the Laketown Twp. School south of the homestead. Ingnora died of tuberculosis in 1902 and Daniel died of a heart attack in 1903 while building a new home for his family.
