Description	:	Darel was born to Clyde & Mabel (Kiersch) Harpole. At the age of 5, the family moved to Branson, Missouri, then to Hollister and Kirbyville and back to a horse ranch north of Branson. At the age of 12, they moved to Percival, Iowa and he attended Percival High School for 3 years. For his senior year he attended and graduated from Sidney South High School. Read More	Darel was born to Clyde & Mabel (Kiersch) Harpole. At the age of 5, the family moved to Branson, Missouri, then to Hollister and Kirbyville and back to a horse ranch north of Branson. At the age of 12, they moved to Percival, Iowa and he attended Percival High School for 3 years. For his senior year he attended and graduated from Sidney South High School. Following high school he served 4 years in the United States Army and fought bravely in the Korean War and served 32 months in Japan. In September of 1954, Darel married the love of his life, Louise Everett. They moved to Nebraska City and he worked at the local Safeway Stores. In 1957 he was transferred to Sioux City, Iowa. In the fall of 1958, he began to working for Kraft Foods and the family move to O'Neill, NE for a short time, then to Omaha after accepting a job with Butternut Bread. In 1960, he began working for the US Postal Service as a city carrier, followed by a rural carrier in 1976. He worked here until his retirement in 1990. Darel was a lifelong member of the Ralston American Legion, and VFW and a member of the Rural Carrier Union.
