Description	:	David A. Pollock was born in Bellshill, Scotland, on July 24, 1854, and departed this life in Fairmont, Nebraska, March 28, 1927; aged seventy-two years, eight months and four days. He, with his parents, two brothers and two sisters, came to America when he was sixteen years of age and settled on a farm near Polo, Illinois. Pollock was born in Bellshill, Scotland, on July 24, 1854, and departed this life in Fairmont, Nebraska, March 28, 1927; aged seventy-two years, eight months and four days. He, with his parents, two brothers and two sisters, came to America when he was sixteen years of age and settled on a farm near Polo, Illinois. The family arrived in Chicago on his sixteenth birthday. On March 2, 1881, he was married to Miss Marion Douglas, who had also come to America from Scotland, a few years previous. Although they had lived but a few miles apart while in Scotland, they did not meet until coming to Illinois. They moved to Nebraska in the fall of 1885, and settled on a farm three and one-half miles southeast of Fairmont, and this was the family home until in 1920, when Mr. Pollock moved into his house in Fairmont and has since resided there making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Nettie Taylor. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Pollock--Mrs. F.M. Kemp, Mrs. Nettie Taylor and Royce Pollock of Fairmont, Nebraska; Mrs. T.A. Hutton of Hyattsville, Maryland; Mrs. E.P. Foulon of Heyburn, Idaho; Miss Winnie Pollock of Rogerson, Idaho; George and David Pollock of Los Angeles, California. Mrs. Pollock preceded him in death in 1920. He is survived by the eight children; eleven grandchildren; two brothers, John and Will Pollock of Polo, Illinois and a cousin, John Pollock of Beatrice, Nebraska. Up until two years ago he had always enjoyed perfect health. At that time he had an attack of influenza, which evidently left him somewhat shaken, for occasionally he had symptoms of breaking health. Mr. Pollock took a great interest in the building of the new Federated church of Fairmont, and no man spent more time with a pick and shovel during the work of excavating for the building than did Mr. Pollock. There came a day when some of the footings had to be dug deeper, and only Mr. Pollock and one other man were available that day, but the work was done just the same. Everywhere people hearing of this death have said, "that was a good man." Mr. Pollock joined the Odd Fellows Lodge of Fairmont, January 3, 1898. He became a member of the Camp on December 20, 1906, and was initiated into the Ancient Mystic Oder of Samaritans on Wednesday night, January 19, 1927. Funeral services were conducted in the Federated church of Fairmont, by the pastor, Rev. W.F. Perry, D.D., on Friday afternoon, April 1, 1927, and his body was laid to rest in the Fairmont cemetery beside that of his beloved wife.
