He was born December 31, 1936 in Bunker Hill, Indiana to Charles Hawkins and Mildred (Hartgrove) Hawkins Little. David was a 1956 graduate of Bunker Hill High School. He was a US Navy veteran and was stationed at Hutchinson, Kansas Naval Air Station. He married Phyllis (Baer) Brackenhamer in Richvalley, Indiana on February 14, 1970. He was born December 31, 1936 in Bunker Hill, Indiana to Charles Hawkins and Mildred (Hartgrove) Hawkins Little. David was a 1956 graduate of Bunker Hill High School. He was a US Navy veteran and was stationed at Hutchinson, Kansas Naval Air Station. He married Phyllis (Baer) Brackenhamer in Richvalley, Indiana on February 14, 1970. He retired from the Indiana State Highway Department in 1987. David enjoyed woodworking and playing basketball, which he played until 2002. He is survived by wife, Phyllis Hawkins of Wabash; four children, Suzie Josette of Peru, Richard (Natalie) Hawkins of Marion, Indiana, Linda Rose (Jim) Arthur of Mexico, Indiana, Dan Hawkins of Fishers, Indiana; his step-son, Kurt (Liz) Brackenhamer of Wabash; sister, Sally (Byron) Kosanke, and brother, Charles (Mary) Hawkins, both of Bunker Hill; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Terry W. Little, and three sisters, Sarahlyn Rose Hawkins, Connie E. Scott, and Judith C. Fatkin. Funeral services will be held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Shafer officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Preferred memorial is Wabash-Miami Home Healthcare & Hospice.
