He was born December 6, 1962 in Wabash, to Robert L. and Betty R. (Parke) Nelson. He was a 1981 graduate of Northfield High School and had attended Ivy Tech. He was born December 6, 1962 in Wabash, to Robert L. and Betty R. (Parke) Nelson. He was a 1981 graduate of Northfield High School and had attended Ivy Tech. He married Lisa Napier in Wabash, on September 10, 1988. David worked at Caterpillar in Lafayette, 12½ years. He had also worked at Diehl Machine in Wabash, and Zimmer, Inc. in Warsaw, Indiana. He was a chaperone for Science in Motion several years. He enjoyed building model airplanes and was a member of the American Modelers Association. David loved cooking and family get-togethers. He enjoyed his animals, fishing, canoeing, especially his fishing trip to Canada. He was an avid Colts and Purdue fan. He was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Lisa D. Nelson of Wabash; two daughters, Stephanie Nelson of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Dana Nelson of Wabash; his father, Robert L. Nelson of Marion, Indiana; mother, Betty R. Nelson of Wabash; his brother, Doug (Carrie) Nelson of Wabash; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Charles Osborne officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 2-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 2 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the college fund for his daughters, Stephanie and Dana. ================ FUNERAL - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN) - June 3, 2010 Services for David Allen Nelson, 47, Wabash, were at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash. Pastor Charles Osborne officiated. Memories were shared by Mr. Nelson's wife, Lisa Nelson, and daughters, Stephanie and Dana Nelson. Burial was in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Pallbearers were Ron Napier, Ed Napier, Robert Parke, Scott Ross, Tim Hester, Doug Nelson, Jeremy Nelson, Morgan Hobbs and Mark Williams. Honorary pallbearers were Jason Parke, Darrell Lewis, Jason Lewis, John Lynn, James Lynn, Jason Napier, Josh Napier, Nathan Napier and Gary Stetler.
