A large company gathered at the Nazareth church where Rev. A. V. Neve assisted by Rev. Robert Larson, of Dalesburg, conducted fitting funeral services. As a part of the services, a quartette from Dalesburg sand, and Dr. Collins and Prof. Ireland, of Vermillion, gave a cornet duet. Following the services at the church the band then headed a procession through the city, when autos were taken and the company continued to the Rockfield cemetery, where interment took place. David Jorgensen was born at Rockfield, Clay county, August 3, 1890, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jorgen Jorgensen, and passed his childhood there, attending the public schools. Some ten years ago he entered the harness business. He was a natural musician and for three years was a member of the Sells Floto circus band. At the time of his death he was a member of the Beresford municipal band. He was a master on the cornet, and no program in the community where he chanced to be was complete unless it included him and his instrument. Of a retiring disposition, and refusing to force himself into any situation, or upon anyone, he not only won many friends, but had the ability to retain them permanently. On November 22, 1922, he was united in marriage with Miss Vernie Lind, at the Olof Lind home, in Garfield, and the next year he and the wife moved to Beresford. The fact that his application for enlistment in the army was rejected, indicates that his health was not the best. This breaking recently, he gradually grew worse until the end came on last Thursday morning. The entire Alsen and Dalesburg community attended the funeral last Sunday, and a procession near two miles in length accompanied the remains to Rockfield. To the sorrowing wife and the parents and two sisters, Katherine and Blanche and brother Louie the Republic extends the sympathy of the entire community.
