Description	:	David was the son of Charles M.C. Auten and Anna Louise Crossland. He did not marry. Funeral services were held Saturday morning in the Pocahontas Methodist church for David Miller Auten, 65, who died August 31 in the Morgan Rest home at Fonda. Rev. Max Paige officiated and burial was in Summit Hill cemetery. Casket bearers were Ernie Herbst, Harvey Nielsen, Herman Kleen, Ira Miller, Joe Sinek and Joe Sernett. The son of Charles and Anna Auten, David was born August 3, 1901 at Mendota, Mo. He spent his childhood in Putnam county, Mo. and in the spring of 1930 moved to a farm northwest of Havelock with his mother and brothers and sisters. After his mother's death in 1949, he worked as a farm laborer in and around Pocahontas county until his health failed around 6 years ago. Surviving are four brothers: Harold of Pocahontas, Virgil of Mallard, Roy of Rolfe, and Lloyd of Plover; four sisters: Mrs R.M. Booge (Mary) of Pocahontas, Mrs Clark Anderson (Irene) of Seymour, Mrs Delbert Morris (Velma) of Osceola, NE; and Mrs Ed Rouse (Carol) of Laurens; and 28 nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his father, mother and two brothers: Charles and John. Sept 9, 1966 - Rolfe Arrow - Mr. and Mr. Lloyd Auten and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Auten attended funeral services for their brother Dave at Pocahontas.
