Description	:	John W. Auten, 61, died suddenly Wednesday, Aug 9, at his farm home of a heart attack. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the Pocahontas Methodist church with the Rev. Leo Hutchinson, pastor of the Baptist church, officiating. Pallbearers were Joe Sernett, Roy Zeman, Bernard Zeman, E. O. Wolkenhauer, Marshall Otto and Joe Sinek. Burial was in Summit Hill cemetery. A son of Charles and Anna Auten, John W. was born April 3, 1900, at Mendota, Mo. He attended country school there and on Jan. 4, 1923, was married to Esther M. Booge at Rockwell City. Following their marriage, they resided at Havelock and Laurens and for the past twenty-one years have resided on a farm near Pocahontas where Mr. Auten died. Surviving are his wife, three sons, Robert, Donald and Earl; four daughters, including Mrs. Ed. (Lucille) Krischel, Mrs. Albert (Evelyn) Shaw and Mrs. John (LaVonne) Zeman of Pocahontas, and ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are four sisters and five brothers, including David of Pocahontas, Mrs. Clark Anderson of Seymour, Virgil of Mallard, and Roy and Lloyd of Plover.
