He was born August 10, 1982 in Charleston, Kanawha County, West Virginia. He was a graduate of Scott High School, Madison, Boone County, West Virginia in the year 2000. He was the son of the late Stephen Eugene Wheatley and Carol Sue (Hill) Wheatley.He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Eugene Wheatley, his step grandfather Harold Toney, and his first cousin Craig Anthony Wheatley. He was survived by his mother, Carol Sue (Hill) Wheatley; his grandparents, Pelmer Wheatley, Poneta (Haun) Wheatley, Harold Eugene (Maggie) Hill, and Patsy Toney; uncles and aunts, Russell (Donetta) Hill of Greenview, Charity Baylea Hill; Pelmer Wheatley Jr. of Hamlin, Rhonda Wheatley of Danville, Bobby Wheatley of Gatlinburg, TN, Dennis Wheatley and Gary Taylor of Charleston, Eddie (Rosa) Wheatley of Greenview, Deborah (Scott) Conley of Madison, and Mark (Shannon) Wheatley of Rock Creek; step uncle, Paul D. Bailey and a host of cousins and friends. Funeral services were held at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, West Virginia, with the burial afterwards in Memory Gardens, Madison. Within two years of David Wheatley's passing both of his grandfathers died within two days of each other. Grandfather Pelmer Wheatley passed on Friday, September 20, 2013 and Grandfather Harold Hill passed Sunday, September 22, 2013. His mother, Carol Sue (Hill) Wheatley passed away, the next month, on October 30, 2013. His uncle Dennis Wheatley said, "David was a hard fighting soldier for his country and for what he believed in." -Obituary written posthumously by Myra Elaine after the passing of David's mother. Obituary from Charleston Gazette: David Stephen Wheatley , 29, of Greenview passed away Monday, January 16, 2012 at home. David was born on August 10, 1982. He served in the Marine Corps with two tours in Iraq. He was preceded in death by his loving father, Stephen; and step-grandfather, Herman Toney. He is survived by his mother, Carol Sue Wheatley ; maternal grandmother, Patsy Toney; maternal grandfather, Harold Hill (Maggie); paternal grandparents, Pelmer and Poneta Wheatley ; uncle, Russell (Donetta) Hill; and many family members and friends. Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 20, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
