Online obituary at: www.jamisonschmitzfuneralhome.com Dawnette Joy Thomas was born on May 27, 1964 at Waverly, Iowa. She was the daughter of Marvin Harold & Zebbie Zo Ann (Davis) Thomas. Dawn graduated from Oelwein Community High School in 1982. She was married to Joel Craig Voshell in 1989 and they recently divorced. Dawn had previously been the manager of the Top Of The Line store in Oelwein. She then attended Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo where she graduated first in her class with a degree in ophthalmology. Dawn then worked at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics in Iowa City as an ophthalmology technician. She stopped work to care for her son who had been in a car accident and due to her own health concerns. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and enjoyed gardening. Dawn is survived by her Son: Jake Voshell (friend: Kristin Carnicle) of Oelwein; Father: Marvin (Nancy) Thomas of Oelwein; Brother: Marty (Deb) Thomas of Oelwein; Granddaughter: Peyton Carnicle; Niece: Erika Scheffert; 2 Nephews: Bailey Scheffert & Ethan Thomas; Step-Sister: Becky (Brian) Meisgeier of Arlington; Step-Nephew: Jared Meisgeier and a Step-Niece: Kenna Meisgeier.
