Description	:	Deacon Edgar Gaylon Simmons, 88, of Mount Airy, N.C., died Tuesday, May 15, 2007. He was born in Stokes County, N.C., on May 9, 1919 to the late William Normie Simmons the son of a Slave and Dollie Ann Moore Simmons. He was also preceded in death by a son, Donald Ray Simmons. Surviving are six daughters, Marie Ceasar, Geraldine Moore, Judy Washington, Agnes Rawley, and Louise Flippen, and Mary Rawley all of Mount Airy N.C.; three sons, two are deceased Joe Simmons and Gid Simmons, still living Lester Simmons of Mount Airy; four sisters, Catherine Valentine... Funeral services were held Saturday at Simmons Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Westfield. Elder Carl Morgan was the eulogist. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Simmons Chapel Primitive Baptist Church building fund.
