Burial with military rites will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Hasemann Funeral Home in Winside. He was graduated from Osmond High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1956. Dearld married Melva Jacob on Jan. 18, 1959, and they divorced in 1977. He married Betty Bolich on June 13, 1979. She died in 1998. On March 24, 2001, he married Lavern Greunke. She died in 2006. Dearld was employed by Thiesen Brothers in Osmond from 1945 to 1964; Sherry Brothers in Wayne from 1964 to 1978; and Wayne County District 3 at Winside from 1978 to September 2008 when he retired. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Winside and Winside American Legion Post. Survivors include his children, Shari (Mark) Walling of Lawrenceburg, Ky., David Hamm of Merna and Chris (Lon) Carstens of Pierce; daughter-in-law Maureen Hamm of Plainview; stepsons Wayne Bolich of Sioux Falls, S.D., Jeff (Amy) Bolich of Lincoln, and Todd (Pam) Greunke and Darin (Staci) Greunke, all of Winside; stepdaughters Peggy (Jim) Rees of Concord and Melessia (Luther) Wright; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 16 stepgrandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Hamm of Neligh and Ethel Hamm of Pender; and many nieces and nephews. Dearld was preceded in death by his parents; wife Betty in 1998 and wife Lavern in 2006; three brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers will be Brandon Hamm, Britton Hamm, Nate Carstens, Luke Koerting, Jim Rabe and Kyle Skokan.
