Manary was born Feb. 17, 1907, in What Cheer, the son of James P. and Laura B. Despain Manary. He married Mildred B. Manning Dec. 27, 1927, in Monmouth, Ill. A lifetime resident of Jefferson County, he was a field surpervisor for Economy Forms, retiring in 1959. He was a member of AFL and CIO, and the Jefferson County Historical Society. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Orlan and Larry, both of Fairfield, Tilford of Ottumwa; a daughter, Bernice Thorne of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Chester and Keith, both of Fairfield; and a sister, Esther Bamesberger of Houston.
