Delilah Erkenbrack was born in Aurora, Illinois on March 5, 1857 and moved to Iowa with her parents in early girlhood. She was united in marriage on July 1, 1875 with William Henry Higgins in Page County, where they made their home until coming to Villisca 34 years ago. To this union only one child, a daughter was born. Preceded in death by her husband in February 1931, Mrs. Higgins leaves her daughter, Mrs. Minnie McCoy of Villisca; a brother, Joseph Erkenbrack of Washington State; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Freeland of Omaha, Mrs. Elizabeth Penwell of Clarinda and Mrs. Jessie McCoy of Villisca; one granddaughter and one great grandchild, Mrs. Ruby Jarvis and daughter, Harriet Dee, Omaha.
