Description	:	William Henry Higgins, 83, a resident of this vicinity almost 60 yeas, died at 6 p.m. Thursday of last week at his home here after an illness of two weeks that was preceded by several years of failing health. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Fessler & Sutphen Funeral Chapel here and burial was made in the Villisca Cemetery. Mr. and MRs. Albert F. Davie, Everett Glackenmeyer and Miss Sylvia Enarson furnished music for the funeral and relatives of Mr. Higgins served as pall bearers. Mr. Higgins was born May 27, 1847 in Highland County, Illinois. His parents were Louis and Catherine Higgins. When a young man he moved to Illinois with his parents and three years later, in 1872, the family came to Iowa and settled on a farm three miles southeast of Villisca. He was married July 1, 1875 in Page County, Iowa to Miss Delilah Erkenbrack and to this union one daughter, Minnie was born Mr and MRs. Higgins spent all of their married life in or near Villisca. They moved from the farm in Villisca in the spring of 1902. Mr. Higgins has been a member of the Methodist Church since his youth. He leaves a wife and one daughter, Mrs. Fred McCoy of Pacific Junction, Iowa, who with the husband, has been here for seven months caring for her father and mother. One granddaughter, Mrs. Harry Jarvis and a great granddaughter, Harriet Dee Jarvis, of Omaha, also survive, as do many more distant relatives.
