Read More	DELPHIA VERDA MEANS: Obituary (from Funeral folder) Delphia Verda Ridnour, youngest daughter of George Robert and Matilda Neoma Lippincott Means was born May 10, 1896 at Mt. Etna, in Adams County, Iowa and entered into rest August 15, 1991 at Mercy Hospital, Corning, Iowa at the age of 95 years, 3 months and 5 days. She attended rural schools in Adams County, and when she was 8 years old she traveled with her parents in a covered wagon to Kansas. Delphia met Joseph Ridnour at the 1914 Brooks Homecoming, and on April 2, 1916 they were united in marriage at Carbon, Iowa at the home of Rev. A. Y. Cupp. Three children were born to bless this union. They lived on farms in this area all of their lives and on the same farm near Ivyville since 1941. Joseph preceded her in death in 1960 and Delphia stayed in that home until shortly before her death. She loved her home and family and was always happiest when her children and grandchildren were around her. She loved the farm and enjoyed her garden, flowers and being outside. Her indoor hobby was needlework, and she was never idle. Christmas dinner was a family tradition, and 1983 was the first time in 47 years that she was unable to have the dinner because of the weather. She was a member of the Helping Hand Club. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Orphas, two sisters, Drothel Perryman and Delila who died in infancy, two sons-in-law, Howard Roberts and Louis Lynam, a granddaughter, Betty Beavers and a great-granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Lynam. Delphia is survived by her daughters, Ruth Lynam, Evelyn Roberts and Lois Mitchell and her husband Alvin all of Corning, Iowa, 15 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn.
