Washington of Superior, Neb., were married at 4 o'clock last Sunday afternoon, June 13, at the Evangelical Reformed Church in Osage precinct, north of Cook, Rev. Theo. Pfundt performed the ceremony in the presence of 150 guests. The bride wore a gown of pink slipper satin, and a matching finger-tip veil and carried a bouquet of white roses. The bridesmaid was Elaine Hopp, a sister of the bride. She wore a blue gown and carried a colonial bouquet of salmon-colored roses. The best man was Wendell Washington of Superior, a brother of the groom. The ushers were Keith Robinson of Superior and Bob Meyer of York. Flower girl was Diane Gates. Gordon Hopp was ring bearer. Taper lighters were Sanda Rosekrans and Carol Washington. Mrs. Walter Noerrlinger played the wedding march and Elaine Hoop sang "Because" and "The Lord's Prayer." Following the ceremonies a reception was held in the church parlors, attended by 150 guests. Mr. and Mrs. Washington left for a honeymoon trip to Denver and Greeley, Colo. On their return they will be at home during the summer on the Charles Hopp farm. ==================== The Superior Express (Superior, NE), Thursday, May 19, 1955; pg. 1 Plane Crash Kills Former Superior Boy Denny Washington Was Son Of Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Washington; Funeral Services Friday Denny Washington, 30, a son of Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Washington of Superior, was killed in an airplane crash between Billings, Mont., and Loveland, Colo., some time noon Sunday. Also killed in the crash was the pilot, a Loveland jeweler. They had been at Billings on a business trip for a college organization, with which he has been connected. The plane was due at Loveland in the early afternoon, and when it did not arrive, a search was started, the wreckage and bodies being found about 2 p.m. Monday. Details of the accident are lacking here at this time. Denny was born in Superior and went through the schools here, graduating from Superior High School with the class of 1942. He was active and popular as a student. Surviving are his wife, the former Delores Hopp of Tecumseh, and their son, David; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Washington of Superior, brother Wendell of Superior, and his grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Washington of Oak. Funeral services will be held at Loveland at 10:30 a.m. Friday and graveside services will be at Evergreen cemetery (sic), Superior, at 2 p.m. Saturday. ====================== Superior Express (Superior, NE), Thursday, May 19, 1955; pg. 1 Services Here For Denny Washington Graveside services were conducted at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, for Denny Washington, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Washington, who was killed in an airplane crash Sunday, May 15. Rev. Robert Wigert was in charge. Services had been held at Loveland, Colo., previously. Denny, whose home was at Loveland, had gone to Billings, Mont., on a business trip, a close friend, Claude Tyler, 42, Loveland jeweler, volunteering to take him there in his plane. The men ran into a storm and attempted a landing with very low visibility, the plane skidding for some distance and smashed into a butte. Mr. Tyler was an experienced pilot and had a good four-passenger plane. The men were killed instantly. The plane did not burn and Denny was still in the seat when found. Denny is survived by his wife, and son David, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Washington, and brother Wendell, of Superior, and his grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Washington of Oak. He was reared in the Superior community and had a large number of good friends here who were shocked at the news of his death. He graduated from Superior High School with the Class of 1942.
