Read More	Desdie Lenora Woodbury Kaylor WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Desdie Lenora Woodbury Kaylor, 95, of Winston-Salem, NC went to be with the Lord on March 10, 2019 at Arbor Acres Retirement Community. Mrs. Kaylor was born on February 26, 1924 in Conway, SC to the late Olga Woodbury Dudley and Lawrence W. Woodbury. Growing up on Sullivan's Island, she attended Memminger High School in Charleston. While working at Fort Moultrie on Sullivan's Island during World War II, she met her husband, Charles E. Kaylor, to whom she was married for forty-nine years before his death in 1992. After the war, Desdie and Ed moved to Portsmouth, Ohio so that he could resume his career with the Norfolk and Southern Railway and they began to raise their family. While in Portsmouth, Desdie was active in the various school and church activities of her children and would occasionally work part- time at either Marting's Department Store or Wurster's Drug Store. When they moved to Springfield, Illinois, she became an administrative assistant in the Engineering Section of the Department of Transportation for the State of Illinois. However, Desdie and her family would readily point out that her greatest achievements were as a wife and mother. The love and laughter in the household she created were always present. Unfailingly sociable and infectiously friendly, she was able to use these traits when she assisted her husband with his congregations when he became a United Methodist minister following his retirement from the railroad. She was last a member of Marvin United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. Desdie is survived by a sister, Barbara Robinson of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and a brother and his spouse William ("Pug") and Ann Dudley of Isle of Palms, SC. She is also survived by her children: C. Edward Kaylor, Jr. and his spouse Gretchen of Beaufort, SC; Patricia Anne Kaylor Suggs and her spouse Douglas of Winston-Salem. She leaves three grandchildren: C. Jared Suggs (Kelly) of Winston-Salem, NC; E. Adam Kaylor (Amy) of Beaufort, SC; and Alexis Kaylor Lindsay (Pickens) of Columbia, SC. Desdie was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Camden Suggs and Kaitlin Ehlers-Volpe; Peyton and Jack Kaylor; and Mac and Elliott Lindsay. A memorial service will be held at Arbor Acres Retirement Community in Winston-Salem, NC on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 11:00 am. A graveside service will be held at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens in Mt. Pleasant, SC on Wednesday, April 17 at 11:00 am. Various arrangements are being made by Salem Funeral Home of Winston-Salem and Stuhr's Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.
