Description	:	Devota Lorraine Tipton Kintigh, 91, of Geneseo, Illinois and formerly of Larrabee, died Thursday, April 5, 2007 at Hammond Henry Hospital Skilled Care Unit in Geneseo. Funeral services were held April 11 at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, with Rev. Ray Hampton officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Cemetery at Larrabee. Devota was born September 27, 1915 in Delta, the daughter of Harlan and Gertrude Tipton. Devota was born September 27, 1915 in Delta, the daughter of Harlan and Gertrude Tipton. She graduated from What Cheer Community High school, and entered William Penn College in Oskaloosa, at the age of 16. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree, with a double major in Math and Home Economics in 1936, and was valedictorian of her class. Devota taught in Beaman and Larrabee schools prior to her marriage in Sigourney, on May 25, 1940, to Harry T. Kintigh of Larrabee, Devota was a current member of the First United Methodist Church of Geneseo, a 50 year member of the Rebekah Lodge, taught adult education sewing classes, former 4-H Club Leader, and functioned as a custom seamstress for many years. She enjoyed quilting and other sewing hobbies, while giving tirelessly to many volunteer causes. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1977; and brothers Keith and Ronald Tipton of Ollie, Iowa. She is survived by one son, Richard W. (Mary) Kintigh of Geneseo, IL; grandsons David (Stacie) of Moline, IL; Jeffrey of Chicago, IL; and Richard H. of Chicago, IL; a great grandson Michael of Moline, IL; sisters Geraldine Holroyd of Monona; Bernita Morris of Sigourney; and many nieces and nephews.
