Victoria Tracey (Tracy) was the second of five children born to Harvey Stewart Tracey and Minerva Elizabeth (Tiller) Tracey: 1) William Archibald Tracy (the surname lost the 'e' with a required US Postal Service change), 2) Dicey Victoria (Tracey) Butler, 3) Mona (infant?), 4) Julia Ann (Tracey) Claunch, and 5) James Milton Tracey. Victoria was the second of the three wives of Joseph Thornton (JT) Butler, with whom she had three children: 1) Mary Ann Butler, 2) John Edward Butler, and 3) Iva Pearl (Butler) Sparks, my maternal grandmother. Tragically, Victoria contracted Tuberculosis and died in June 1894 when my grandmother was nearly one year old. JT was married (for the third time) on Sept. 29, 1895 to Mary Ellen Carson, who had two children from a previous marriage (a son named Will -?, and a daughter named Carrie.) Incidentally, both of Victoria Butler's parents, her brothers and sister Julia (I have not yet found any additional information on Mona), her husband Joseph Thomas Butler, and two of her children (Mary Ann Butler and John Edward Butler) are also buried in Rosebank Cemetery in Mulberry, KS. Victoria was described by family members as petite, with long auburn hair and bright green-blue eyes, and very beautiful and kind with a sparkling personality. She was immaculately dressed, though she lived in Camp Fuller, a mining company township. Her family and friends mourned her death for many years. She was a direct descendant on her mother's side of Mathieu Isaac Ageé, who led the Huguenot Movement from Nantes, France to the Virginia Colony (Manakintowne) in 1699. Contributor: DLPrideaux
