She was born July 8, 1824 and died June 17, 1898, being nearly 74 years old. With her parents she moved from Kentucky to Illinois when she was 8 years old. She was married to Paschal C. Carter in 1848. They with their three children moved to Kansas in 1855 an settled east of Lawrence. She joined the M. E. Church and was a member for several years, later having united with the Free Methodist Church of which she was a member until overtaken by death. Mrs. Carter had suffered for a few years past with cancer. The suffering of her last illness was intense, but she bore it with patience. When about to pass away she said she saw the home she longed for and the rest which Heaven alone can give and now while her body is sleeping its last sleep her spirit has returned to God who gave it. She leaves her aged husband, one son and two daughters to mourn their loss."
