Description	:	Don B. Goodrich, the son of Donald H. and Helen C. Beach Goodrich, was born September 30, 1932, at Nelson, Nebraska. He died Sunday, November 25, 1990 at Thayer County Memorial Hospital in Hebron, Nebraska, at the age of 58 years, 1 month and 25 days. Don attended school at Nelson and graduated from Nelson High School in 1950. He attended Milford Tech School and graduated from Milford. Goodrich, the son of Donald H. and Helen C. Beach Goodrich, was born September 30, 1932, at Nelson, Nebraska. He died Sunday, November 25, 1990 at Thayer County Memorial Hospital in Hebron, Nebraska, at the age of 58 years, 1 month and 25 days. Don attended school at Nelson and graduated from Nelson High School in 1950. He attended Milford Tech School and graduated from Milford. On June 12, 1952, he enlisted in the Navy Seabee's during the Korean Conflict. He later enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served many stateside bases and was also stationed in Okinowa, Turkey, and Germany. While serving with the United States Air Force, Don received his college education and was a master instructor at many of the bases he served. Don was honorably discharged on May 31, 1973, at McQuire Air Force Base in New Jersey after completing 21 years in the military service. Don was united in marriage to Jeryne A. Ruttman on October 9, 1954, at Lowry Air Force Base, Denver, Colorado. Upon his retirement from the military service, the family moved to Hebron, Nebraska, where Don was employed as a city policeman. He later was a parts man for the NAPA store in Hebron. He became an auto mechanics instructor at Hebron High School in 1978 and retired in October of 1989 because of ill health. Don was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hebron; a member of the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department for many years; a member of the Hebron Education Association; a member of the Nelson Masonic Lodge; also a member of Air Force Sargeants Association (AFSA) and Non-Commissioned Officers Association (NCOA). He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Helen Goodrich; one sister, Mrs. C. Lee Fletcher; one grandson, Christopher Ballinger in 1982. Don is survived by his wife, Jeryne A. Goodrich of Hebron, Nebraska; three sons, Thomas Goodrich and wife Shirley of Granbury, Texas, Don H. Goodrich and wife Cyndi of Greeley, Colorado, and John D. Goodrich and wife Laurel of Lincoln, Nebraska; three daughters, Mrs. Marla Bowlin and husband Bill of Logan, Utah, Mrs. C. Suzanne Wiedel and husband Greg of Omaha, Nebraska and Mrs. Peggy Ballinger and husband Mark of Beatrice, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren, one great grandchild, one niece, three nephews, and three cousins. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 27, 1990, at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Hebron, Nebraska, with Reverend David Kelly officiating. Interment was held Wednesday, Novenber 28, 1990, at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson Cemetery in Nelson, Nebraska with military graveside services conducted by Saxton Post, No. 180, American Legion of Hebron, Nebraska. Music for the service was provided by Mrs. Janette Drohman, who was accompanied by Mrs. Kathy Priefert. Casketbearers were Richard Hoins, Les Hill, Dan Desmond, Jerry Martin, Randy Mesloh, Wes Tracy, Jerry Fink and Galen Cox. Services conducted by Hacker Family Funeral Homes, Hebron and Bruning, Nebraska. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, December 6, 1990; pg. 12 NOTE: The stone with his wife, obituary and Social Security Death Index state that Don passed away on November 25, but the military stone states November 26. Therefore, I believe the military stone is wrong.
