The Loe family moved to Glasco in May of 1933 where Donald attended the Glasco Public Schools. After his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he entered Kansas State College where he received his Bachelor's degree in 1951. While at Kansas State, he was an active member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and served as president of this organization for one term. After his graduation he was employed by the Commercial Credit Corporation office of Salina. In April of 1955, he was transferred to Kansas City, Mo. On June 12, 1954, he was united in marriage to Virginia Catherine Brann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rees Brann of Salina. To this union were born two daughters, Valoree Kay and Pamela Louise. He leaves to mourn his passing besides his immediate family, his mother and father, two brothers and two sisters, other relatives and many friends who grieve his untimely death. Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 16, 1957, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at the Christian church with Brother Tom Davis officiating. Music was by Mr. Harland Harper, Mr. Tom Davis, Mrs. Robert Chestnutt and Mrs. Gordon Fahring, accompanied by Mrs. Edward Berndt. Casketbearers were Harvey Wright, Franklin Adams, Jr., Jack Vanier, Jerry Vanier, Bruce Gilbert and Robert McKee. Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Clive Cramer and Mrs. Robert Pitner. Interment was in Glasco Cemetery with Haley Funeral Home in charge.
