He married Donna June Snavely on Aug. 19, 1947, at Mankato, Kan. She died on Oct. 23, 2008. Survivors of the immediate family include three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Sherylin Shellhase of Fairbury, Donald and Lillie Shellhase of Geneva and Keith and Joan Shellhase of Ord; seven grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Gene Mees of Norwalk, Iowa; and a brother-in-law, Pete McCarty of Pueblo, Colo. He passed away on February 11, 2010 at Fairview Manor in Fairmont, Nebraska at the age of 86 years. Delphos was one of 6 children, he attended schools in Superior and graduated from Superior High School with the class of 1941. He was inducted into the United States Army on February 13, 1943 and was honorably discharged on November 14, 1945, earning the Northern France, Central Europe and Rhineland Battle Stars. He was united in marriage to Donna June Snavely on August 19, 1947 at Mankato, Kansas. This union was blessed with 3 children. Delphos lived his life in Superior. He enjoyed camping, together with Donna they would camp in many places, especially Lovewell Lake and sometimes all summer long. He liked to play cards a lot, especially pitch, and euchre. He bowled on leagues for many years. He worked as a mechanic and used car clean up for Alexanders Motors for 38 years. He was a former commander for the American Legion and VFW clubs. He also was a member of the Eagles Club all of Superior. He loved his garden which was always very large. His gazebo is where he would always fix anything. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna of October 23, 2008, one brother, Evan Lynn and 3 sisters, Donna Mary Hornbussel, Lucille McCarty and Ruth Hesser. Survivors include his sons, Charles Shellhase and wife Sherylin of Fairbury, Nebraska, Donald Shellhase and wife Lillie of Geneva, Nebraska and Keith Shellhase and wife Joan of Ord, Nebraska; extended family Larry and Beverly Beavers of Superior,Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Petty Officer 1st Class Dustin Shellhase and wife Debbie, Olivia Shellhase and Roger, Christen Shellhase and wife Brandee, Hunter Shellhase and wife Kren, Megan Shellhase, Matthew Shellhase and Andi Jo Shellhase; five great-grandchildren; Jamie, Nic, Taylor, Georgia and Presley; and one great-great- grandchild, Darius; sister Shirley Mees and husband Gene of Norwalk, Iowa and brother-in-law Pete McCarty of Pueblo, Colorado; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
