Lortz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lortz of Plainview, was born on September 30, 1928, at Osmond. He grew to manhood in the Osmond-Plainview farming community and received his education in that area, graduating from Plainview High School in 1945. He was married to Leila Pronneke at Plainview on July 19, 1949. They farmed in the Osmond community until moving to Norfolk about 16 years ago. Mr. Lortz was associated with the Production Credit Association and maintained an office in Plainview a few years ago. He was serving as manager for Crafts Inc. Construction Co. He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Mr. Lortz died of cancer early Wednesday morning, April 4, in a Norfolk hospital, having been admitted there on April 2. He has been in ill health since August of 1972. Survivors are his wife, Leila of Norfolk, one son, Steve, who is in his last year of college at Lincoln, one daughter, Jann, who is a Senior at Norfolk High; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lortz of Plainview; and two brothers, Gary of Omaha and Dale of McCook. He was preceded in death by one sister, Joan, who passed away at the age of three years; and his grandparents. Obituary courtesy of Ictsusa F.A.G. # 49402099
