Rev. Peter J. Peterson will officiate at the services. Burial of his cremains will be in the Gosport Cemetery. Donald was born on January 25, 1914, the son of Forest A. and Ida May (Freeman) Moore. He was raised in southeast Iowa, attending Knoxville High School his senior year and graduating with the class of 1930. Following graduation, he attended John Fletcher College at University Park. He operated Moore's Dairy with his brother, Alleyne, until he was drafted in the first Marion County draft in 1941. He served in the Army's 701st Military Police battalion. Their annual reunion was a highlight for him each year and he was the unit historian. After five years in the Army, Don started a trucking business hauling limestone and rock. He drove a Knoxville school bus for a few years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Howard, John Paul, Robert, Harold and Norman. He is survived by four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Forest Alleyne of Des Moines, Raymond and Marjorie of Knoxville, Edwin and Gwen of Platteville, Wis. and Lester of Ames; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Priscilla and Dale Strohbehn of Reinbeck and Lucille Butcher of Des Moines; a sister-in-law, Males Moore of Coralville; 39 nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Mardell Hancock of Indianola. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Hospice or West Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Arrangements were made by Bybee & Davis Funeral Home.
