Forest Allen Moore, son of Samuel G. and Fannie Ropp Moore, was born at Knoxville, IA on December 7, 1889, and passed away at his home in Dallas, IA on February 28, 1961. Young Forests boyhood and youth was spent in and around Knoxville. Forest spent some time in western Nebraska establish his fathers homestead, and then went to Texas with his family to run the Iowa House Hotel in Olton, TX. He preceded his family in returning to Iowa. Forest Allen Moore was united in marriage to Ida Freeman of Pleasantville, IA on November 17, 1911. To this union twelve children were born. Mr. Moore taught at rural schools in Marion County for five years previous to his ministry. He began his ministry as a Methodist preacher on the Attica Circuit in 1916. He also served the Reasnor, Sonora, Troy, Eddyville, Knoxville, Columbia and Amish Circuits, the Sheridan Church and Hartwick Congregational Church for two years. Reverend Moore retired from the ministry in 1951 after a cerebral hemorrhage, serving as a local pastor in the Methodist Church for nearly thirty-five years. One son, Robert, preceded him in death in 1934. Also preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Mrs. Elsie Pringle. Survivors included his wife, nine sons, Howard of St. Louis, MO, Donald of Knoxville, Forest Alleyne of Council Bluffs, John Paul of Newton, Harold of Parnell, Raymond of Rippey, Edwin of Iowa City, Lester of Manning, Norman of Corning, and two daughters, Priscilla (Dale) Strohbehn of Reinbeck, and Lucille (Donald) Butcher of Russsell, thirty-six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one brother, Harold of Port Huron, MI, and one sister, Helen of San Diego, CA.
