He was born March 10, 1944, at Dardanelle to Roy Darter Sr. and Syble Howard. He attended the Delaware First Baptist Church and was a 32nd degree Mason with the Masonic Lodge in Dardanelle. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul Darter; nephew, Boyd Darter; and a dear friend, John Hickey. Survivors include his wife, Connie Darter of Dardanelle; three daughters, Kim Collins and Margie Darter of Dardanelle, and D'Lynn Boger and husband, Jeremy, of Atkins; brother, Roy Darter Jr. and wife, Marie, of Dardanelle; sisters, Joanne Grimes and husband, Joe, and Betty Morris, all of Dardanelle; six grandchildren, Shawn "Nub" and Christy Collins of Dardanelle, Garrett George of Dardanelle, Tori and Cody Allen, and Presli Boger of Atkins; and three great-grandchildren, William, Cashton and Aubrey. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle with Bro. Wylie Jones officiating. Burial was in Brearley Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Pallbearers: Cliff "Gabby" Long, Larry Duvall, Tuff Hickey, Johnny Crow, Tommy Pelt, Rick Davis and Larry Nichols. Honorary pallbearers will be the Class of 1962.
