Description	:	CENTRAL CITY — Donna Lee Mate, 86, of Central City died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at Central City Care Center. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City, with Ben Polzkill officiating. Burial will be in the Fullerton Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Donna was born on Sept. 30, 1930, to Homer and Lillian (Johnson) Horn in Fullerton. Burial will be in the Fullerton Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Donna was born on Sept. 30, 1930, to Homer and Lillian (Johnson) Horn in Fullerton. She received her elementary education at rural schools north of Fullerton and attended high school in Fullerton. She married Bernard Polzkill of Fullerton in 1947. The couple lived in Fullerton and Brady before moving to Central City in 1955. Bernard passed away in 1980 and she later married Irving (Henry) Mate. Henry passed away in 2004. Donna worked for Wilders Café and Valley View. She also worked for many years at local grocery stores, Safeway and Jim’s Food Market. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, playing cards, dancing and entertaining. She was an avid bowler, bowling in leagues for many years in Central City and Grand Island. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church for many years as well, until her health prevented her from attending. Donna is survived by two sons, Robert (Bob) and Jean Polzkill of Central City and Bernard (Ben) and Cherry Polzkill of the Philippines; three daughters, Karen and Dennis Dunn of Lincoln, Diana and Curtis Williford of the Philippines and Rhonda and Barry Blue of Omaha; two stepdaughters, Bonnie Keith and Germaine Kirspel of New Jersey; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Johnnita Horn; and a brother-in-law, Harley and Margaret Riley. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her twin sister, Darlene Bridger; four brothers, Earl, George (Pete), Ronnie and Homer Horn; three sisters, Mayrie Senske, Regina Stevens and Katherine Horn; two brothers-in-law, Paul and Fern Polzkill and John Polzkill; and a daughter-in-law, Claire Polzkill.
