DORA FRANCES CURTIS Mrs. Dora Frances Curtis, of near Norwood, died at the Yocom hospital in Chariton on April 30, 1940, at the age of 61 years, 2 months and 11 days, after an extended illness with a complication of troubles. Dora Frances Overton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Overton, was born in Warren county, Iowa, on February 19, 1879. She was the wife of the late Elmer Curtis, who departed from our midst just three short years ago on May 21, 1937. After the loss of her kind husband, Mrs. Curtis failed steadily in health and after long suffering her Maker called and took her to a well earned reward. Mrs. Curtis was converted in the U. B. church at Norwood about forty years ago. Her faithful practice of those Christian vows earned for her countless friends, both near and far. Her leaving has saddened the hearts of all who were so fortunate to know her. Her willing assistance to others in times of sickness, death or other need, will forever be missed. Surviving her are two daughters and four sons: Mrs. Iva McNeer, of Norwood; Mrs. Dorothy Reeves, of Corydon; Moses, Dwight and Dwaine Curtis, of Norwood; and Malvern Curtis, of Liberty Center; three granddaughters, Arwilda and Geraldine Curtis and Sharon Reeves, and four grandsons, Eldon, Paul and Elmer Curtis and Lorraine McNeer; also one sister, Mrs. Eunice Peterson, of Milwaukee, Wisc. Funeral services, conducted by her nephew, Rev. Eldon McCannon, of Des Moines, assisted by her pastor, Rev. Duncan, were held at the Norwood U. B. church. Interment was in the Fletcher cemetery. Pallbearers were six nephews, Clark Curtis, Roy Curtis, Elmer Overton, Thomas Overton, Andrew Wicker and Keith Wicker. Obituary courtesy of Charles M. Wright
