Sun June 20 I published the Banns of Marriage this morning during Divine Service between Humpfrey MAY, Bachelor of Little Current and Dorcas Jane Franklin of Manitowaning, Spinster-the first time of asking-no impediment alleged. Jun, Mr Burford a gentleman stranger, Dr. Layton and Mr. MAY and Mr. Campbell also Janet McKenzie and 5 Indians. They took dinner and left for L.C. at 2 1/2 pm. I married them gratuitously. I forgot to mention that Mrs. and Miss Jacobs called and Mr. and Mrs. and the two /Duponts came in with Dr. Layton and drank to the health of Bride and Bridegroom. Mary MAY promised to return tomorrow and act as servant till our girl arrives-wages at the same rate as Jane's vis $4.00 per month. The Recorder, Gore Bay, Thursday, October 10, 1912 Mrs. Humphrey May Passes Away Died at her home in Little Current on Saturday morning Oct. 5th at 2:30, Dorcas, beloved wife of Humphrey May in her 69th year. For months the deceased has had poor health and about three weeks ago her condition became critical and her family were called home to be with her in her last hours, but the end did not come till Saturday morning when she passed away to her final rest. The deceased was born 68 years and one month ago at Georgetown, Ont., her maiden name being Dorcas J. Franklin. She was married to Humphrey May 48 years ago last June. The funeral took place at the Anglican Church, Little Current, on Sunday afternoon, Rev. C.
