She was born Sept. 6, 1931, in Agency to Ralph “Pete” and Edith Thompson. She married Lloyd M. Klyn. A resident of Ottumwa most of her life, she was a retired employee of Ottumwa Regional Health Center. She was a member of Willard Street Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband; four daughters, Betty Lou Simmons of Oskaloosa, Elizabeth Maynard of Crossville, Tenn., Vicki Ruby of Ottumwa and Carla Howard of Bloomfield Route 9; three sons, Ron and Don Downing and Wayne Klyn of Ottumwa; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her father and stepmother, Ralph and Zelma Haines of Ottumwa; four brothers, James and Lonnie Haines of Ottumwa; Charles Haines of Buffalo and LaVon Haines of Blakesburg and a sister, Donna Rhodes of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by her mother, Edith McKenzie; a granddaughter; a brother, Robert Haines and a sister, Marilyn Foley. The service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Willard Street Methodist Church the Rev. Wilbert Trusheim officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wapello County at 312 E. Alta Vista Ave. in Ottumwa or Willard Street United Methodist Church.
